Invasion of Privacy

The Internet is full of cruelty. I do a search for “executed inmates,” because I have been thinking a lot about “prison,” and “death.”  The institutions of both.  The images appear before me and I feel a certain shame as scan the faces of those killed by the government by culture by circumstance because I have fallen onto something so private.  The search engine has produced a montage of someone’s sad story. I have to look away and so now I write these impressions but I’m going back in.  I’m looking specifically for archive photos and histories of executed ones.  I want to try to read into their eyes until I can look at the world from the other side. I guess I just want to scare myself, or else I want to explore despair. Hell if I know why.
